TWT ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTORPosted by admin on Dec 18, 2016 in News & Events | Comments Off on TWT ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Effective January 1st, 2017, Andrea McDaniel will take the reins of Executive Director from James Norris, who has held the position since November of 2013.
“I’m thrilled to be taking over the position of Executive Director at The Weekend Theater,” says Andrea McDaniel. “This is what I went to school for, this is what I love to do, and The Weekend Theater is a wonderful organization, with a long history of producing high-quality, thought-provoking theater. I can’t wait to get started!”
McDaniel, who has served as Assistant to the Executive Director for the past year, has a BA in Theatre from Henderson State University with an emphasis in theater administration and directing. Andrea has extensive experience with all of the technical and non-technical aspects of theater and has been involved with several theaters around central Arkansas, including the Arkadelphia Little Theater and Red Door Studios.
“I am delighted to have Andrea joining us as Executive Director,” says Kim Labbate, TWT Board President. “She has been volunteering at the theater for some time now and is ready to hit the ground running. I am confident TWT management will be in good hands as we finish our current season and prepare for our 25th Anniversary Season.”
“It’s been a wonderful and challenging three years,” says Norris. “Deciding to step down was tough, since I really love the job, but I’ve experienced so much change these past months — the grandest being the birth of my wife Heather and my beautiful son Spencer Matthew Norris — that I just have to realign my energies. And I couldn’t be happier with the Board’s decision to hire Andrea. She’s got such great energy and drive, and with her solid balance of theater administration training and behind the scenes experience to back it up, there’s nothing she won’t be able to do. And above all, she truly appreciates and values our credo and our mission to reduce prejudice, cruelty, and indifference through live theater. I consider Andrea a true friend of The Weekend Theater, and I look forward to working alongside her in my new role as Board Member!”
